A little known photographer who seems to have published some of the earliest postcards of Kashmir and was based at times both in Srinagar and Sialkot, Punjab, on the route to Kashmir. His photographs also appear and are credited in The Charm of Kashmir by V.C. Scott O'Connor (Longmans, London, Bombay, Calcutta and Madras, 1920)
An early postcard of Kashmir by R. E. Shorter, a little known photographer who would have competed with Fred Bremner as one of the first to publish postcards of the princely state. The white space below the image would have been used for the message.
Probably one of the earliest if not the earliest postcard of Leh, capital of the former Kingdom of Ladakh. Little is known about R. E. Shorter, a photographer with offices in Sialkot, Punjab, on the route to Kashmir, and Kashmir.
